Bishop D. Fernando Paiva opens III Conference of Cáritas Diocesana

Bishop Fernando de Paiva opened the III Conference of the Cáritas Diocesana de Beja on September 23. The event took place at Auditório II of the Escola Superior de Educação of the Universidade Politécnica de Beja under the theme Trauma, Sobrevivência & Decisão.

Bishop Paiva encouraged attendees to look closely at those who often go unnoticed and to understand the suffering of others. He noted that compassion involves suffering alongside others and urged that this awareness lead to concrete acts of care. The bishop also emphasized that the Cáritas Diocesana achieves better results through networking and mutual aid rather than working in isolation.

The opening session included Raquel Santana, Vice Reitora of the UPBeja, and Marciano Lopes, Vice-Presidente of the CCDR Alentejo. Márcio Guerra represented the Câmara Municipal de Beja.
