Bishop Dominikus Saku leads 25th anniversary Mass of Father Yustus Ati Bere

Bishop Dominikus Saku led a Mass on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, to celebrate the 25 years of priesthood of Father Yustus Ati Bere at Tahon Chapel in the Fulur Parish. The celebration was attended by hundreds of priests, 4 deacons, religious sisters, seminarians, and parishioners.

During his remarks, Bishop Saku noted that Father Bere's vocation grew from the faith and prayer of his parents, specifically citing the example of his father, Yakobus Bau, a religious teacher. The bishop described the priest as a product of his family's spiritual devotion.

Father Bere reflected on his service, which has focused on educating candidates for the priesthood at Seminari Lalian and Seminari Tinggi TOR Lo’o Damian. He stated that his work as a formator requires a deep understanding of the individuals being mentored rather than just evaluating them. He credited his ability to persevere through successes, failures, and exhaustion to his closeness to God.

The priest chose the motto “Ia yang Menjanjikannya Setia”, taken from Ibrani 10:23, to represent his 25 years of ministry. In his homily, the Vikaris Jenderal of the Atambua Diocese described the jubilee as a testimony to God's faithfulness in sustaining a vocation over a quarter-century.
