Bishop Guglielmo opens catechists' conference

Bishop Guglielmo opened a conference for catechists and religious education teachers at the Maria Santissima di Czestochowa parish in Rocca di Caprileone. The event focuses on transmitting the faith in the age of artificial intelligence.

During the opening, Bishop Guglielmo spoke about shared responsibility within the Church, using the biblical account of the miraculous catch of fish as a reflection. Fabio Valore, a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Catania and religious education teacher, developed the conference theme by referencing the encyclical Magnifica humanitas by Pope Leo XIV.

Valore stated that artificial intelligence reflects the character of its user through the balance of freedom and responsibility. He noted that the Church should not attempt to stop history but must uphold the non-negotiable dignity of the person. Valore also argued that human relationships involve interactions and friction that artificial intelligence cannot replicate, concluding that God provides a face rather than just a message. The second and final day of the conference is scheduled to take place from 17 to 19.
