Bishop Jachiet visits Seloncourt
Bishop Jachiet visited the Seloncourt Pont de Roide deanery on Sunday, October 4, to meet with priests, deacons, and laypeople from 35 worship sites. The pastoral visit included a large assembly at the parish hall and a day of formal and informal discussions regarding the future of the local Church.
During his homily, the bishop encouraged the community to view the deanery as a precious vineyard and referenced Pope Leo XIV’s remarks that God expects a unique fruit from everyone. He called for vigilance, advising the faithful not to act as owners of the Church.
The visit featured discussions held in 12 small groups to address how to maintain a Christian presence within small households and how to improve fraternal life. Father Séraphin Tchicaya noted that the gathering served as an opportunity for parishioners to express their hopes and proposals for the Church of tomorrow.
