Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes presides over novena in honor of Virgen de la Consolación

Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes will preside over the first novena mass in honor of the Virgen de la Consolación at 20:30 today at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish. This celebration marks the start of the patronal festivals for Molina de Segura.

The novena includes daily intentions, with this Sunday dedicated to the elderly and the sick, which will also include the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Various religious movements, brotherhoods, groups, and choirs will participate in the festivities. On Wednesday, September 16, a children's choir will perform in the plaza following the Eucharist.

On Saturday, September 19, the parish will host a 9:00 mass followed by a floral offering to the Virgin at 10:30. Organizers are asking the faithful to bring non-perishable food for the poor and donations to repair the patroness's hermitage.

The celebrations culminate on Sunday, September 20, marking the 97th anniversary of the canonical coronation of the Virgen de la Consolación. A main mass is scheduled for 12:00, followed by another Eucharist at 18:00 and a procession through the streets of the municipality at 20:00. On Monday, September 21, four different local parishes will participate in a series of masses held between 9:00 and 12:00.
