Bishop Markos Gebremedhin attends formation course

Bishop Markos Gebremedhin, the Vicar Apostolic of Jimma-Bonga in Ethiopia, recently completed a formation course titled Servants of Communion in the Church. The program, organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization's Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches, concluded on September 19 at the Ad Gentes Centre in Nemi.

Bishop Gebremedhin joined 20 other bishops from English-speaking African nations for the training. He described the course as a period of spiritual renewal that allowed him to step back from daily administrative duties to focus on his vocation. He noted that the experience provided a way to reflect on how to serve as a leader who listens and accompanies the missionary Church rather than acting solely as a decision-maker.

The Lazarist bishop said the gathering offered a sense of fraternity, allowing bishops with more than ten years of service to share their challenges, successes, and experiences with one another.
