Bishop of Beja joins Caminhada pela Paz

The Bishop of Beja joined participants in the Caminhada pela Paz, a walk through Beja intended to raise awareness about the urgent need for peace amid global conflicts. The event was one of 12 stops in Portugal for the initiative.

Participants gathered at Praça da República, where organizer Lurdes Rodeia read a meditative text. Rodeia called on world leaders to listen to the innocent, children, and the elderly, while urging people to recognize human dignity, justice, and respect. The reflection also encouraged people to act as guardians of the planet rather than its owners or destroyers.

The bishop walked through the city streets with the group from the starting point to the Jardim Público, where the walk concluded. Although the group was relatively small, organizers expressed hope that the event will return in 2027 with more participants.
