Bishop of Burlington Invites to Pray for Respect for Life

Bishop John McDermott of Burlington invited the faithful in Vermont to pray the rosary daily during October to increase respect for human life.

In a message to his diocese, Bishop McDermott noted that October serves as both Respect Life Month and the Month of the Holy Rosary. He asked people to pray a full rosary or at least one decade each day to seek the intercession of Mary for those whose lives are threatened.

The bishop stated that the people of Vermont face challenges in speaking for the unborn, the elderly, immigrants, refugees, and those with terminal illnesses. He said the community is called to remind others that every life from conception to natural death has value as a creation of God, even when laws or attitudes treat certain lives as burdens.
