Bishop Pierre Goudreault says 'we are neighbors'

Bishop Pierre Goudreault expressed hope for reconciliation between Canada and the United States as trade war tensions affect relations between the two nations. Speaking to the National Catholic Reporter, the president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops noted that the countries share many similarities and previously maintained a strong relationship.

Goudreault, who serves as the bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Quebec, urged Catholics to avoid increasing polarization. He suggested that instead, people should walk together in a spirit of peace.
