Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe warns Kenyans against hatred, division

Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe warned Kenyans to prevent political competition from turning into hatred, violence, or division ahead of the 2027 General Elections. Speaking at the opening of the National Stakeholders Convention on September 2 at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, the Bishop of Wote Diocese represented the Catholic Church at the Kenya Religious Leaders Forum.

Bishop Kamomoe, who chairs the Catholic Justice and Peace Department at the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, stated that no electoral victory justifies the loss of a Kenyan life or the destruction of the country. He noted that maintaining peace during the electoral process is a duty shared by every citizen rather than a responsibility belonging solely to the government or the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The two day convention included religious leaders, government officials, civil society groups, and youth delegates to discuss Kenya's preparedness for the upcoming elections. Bishop Kamomoe described the gathering as occurring at a critical moment for the nation, noting that elections serve as a democratic expression of the people's will to shape the country's future.
