Bishop Vincent’s Homily for the Feast day of Our Lady Queen of Peace 2026

Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen of Parramatta urged the faithful to become artisans of peace during his homily for the feast of Our Lady Queen of Peace. Speaking on the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the bishop noted that true peace requires more than the absence of war.

The bishop highlighted global conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and Iran, while also pointing to rising discord and polarization. He observed that beneath the surface of a prosperous multicultural society, tensions exist through the tendency to scapegoat those perceived as threats to well-being.

Bishop Vincent referenced Pope Leo XIV, noting that the pope began his papacy with a message of peace advocating for active engagement and reconciliation. The bishop called for active love, peace-building, and solidarity with the unjustly victimized to help build a new civilization.
