Bishop welcomes new school year with Gloucester Catholic

Bishop Joseph A. Williams celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit for the students, faculty, and administration of Gloucester Catholic High School on Sept. 18 at Saint Mary’s Church in Gloucester City.

During the liturgy, Bishop Williams reflected on a reading from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, noting that the resurrection of Christ is the foundation of the faith. Student council members presented the bishop with Gloucester Catholic gear to mark the start of the school year, after which he spoke with students and faculty.

The Mass was concelebrated by Father George Seiter, the pastor, and Father Peter Gallagher, the parochial vicar and director of Catholic Identity for the school. Deacon Kevin Heil assisted. Also in attendance were diocesan superintendent of Catholic schools Dr. William Watson, school president Dr. Glenn Benjamin, and principal Tom Iacovone Jr.
