Bishop’s Pastoral Visit Emphasizes Eucharistic-Centred Life in Abongodyang Parish

Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok of Lira Diocese visited St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish Abongodyang in Alebtong district from September 18 to 20, 2026, to encourage families to prioritize the Eucharist and the education of their children.

During the visit, the Bishop's representative, Vicar General Monsignor Valente Innocent Opio, met with parish leaders to discuss community issues and faith formation. On September 19, the Church opened a new Eucharistic Centre at St. Tobias Corner Apala to bring pastoral services closer to local Christians. During the opening ceremonies at the new centre, approximately 154 people received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

In total, nearly 300 Christians received the Sacrament of Confirmation during the three-day visit. The new centre is intended to provide more opportunities for the local community to participate in the sacraments.
