Vandals desecrate Blessed Sacrament at Spanish parish
Vandals broke into the Santa Maria de Lagostelle parish church in Guitiriz, Spain, on September 19, desecrating the Blessed Sacrament and stealing liturgical vessels.
According to the Diocese of Mondoñedo-Ferrol, unidentified individuals forced open the tabernacle, stole a ciborium and a silver chalice, and scattered consecrated hosts across the town square. The diocese described the incident as a grave offense to the Eucharist that deeply wounds the religious feelings of Catholics and the local parish community.
Bishop Fernando Garcia Cadiñanos invited the faithful to pray and attend a Mass of reparation, which was held on September 29.
