Bp Krzysztof Włodarczyk leads 600th anniversary Mass

Bishop Krzysztof Włodarczyk led a Mass to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the parish in Szaradowo on Saturday, September 19. The celebrations included the re-consecration of the church and its altar.

During his homily, Bishop Włodarczyk, the bishop of Bydgoszcz, distinguished between the church as a physical building and the Church as a community of believers. He explained that while the building is a human creation used for worship, the community of believers holds a more universal and timeless value. He encouraged those attending to reflect on whether the Church serves as a source of hope and guidance or merely as a tradition or obligation.

The bishop noted that faith does not require ignoring the sins or weaknesses of people within the Church. He described the paradox of a community where the holiness of Christ exists alongside human imperfection. He also described the Church as a sacrament of salvation and emphasized the connection between Christ and the community of believers.
