Building relationships with God, one camper at a time

Four young women from Vermont served as camp counselors at Camp Guggenheim in New York this summer. Among the counselors were sisters Lucia and Rafaella Bind-Matarazzo from Charlotte. Lucia is a junior at Butler University, while Rafaella is a sophomore at Providence College.

The counselors described the camp as a welcoming environment where campers feel loved. Lucia noted that some younger boys expressed interest in the priesthood during the summer, and she mentioned that several staff members are currently discerning vocations.

The Diocese of Ogdensburg considers the camp a significant location for vocational growth. Marcy Fargo, the director of communications for the diocese, said that seminarians in the diocese often describe the camp as a major part of their formation.
