Buon compleanno, Cattedrale! 250 anni dalla posa della prima pietra: 27 ottobre 1776 – 2026

The Diocese of Adria–Rovigo will host an exhibition of ancient drawings to mark the 250th anniversary of the laying of the first stone of the Cathedral. The exhibition opens Saturday, September 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of San Giovanni, located at the Diocesan Museum.

The display features approximately 30 sheets created using watercolor, pencil, and engraving. These documents were produced by the craftsmen tasked with building and decorating the Cathedral, which was not completed until the second half of the 19th century. The drawings include design proposals for altars, the pulpit, sacristy doors, painting schemes, and flooring. They also provide technical details regarding the church's layout and its historical urban context.

The event begins with a presentation by researcher Davide Tramarin titled "The Cathedral: Center of Faith, Arts, and Life." After remarks from archpriest Fabio Finotello, curators Cristina Tognon, Marco Maran, and Alberto Marcomini will lead the first tour. The exhibition runs through October 31 and is accessible with a standard Diocesan Museum entrance ticket.
