Cameroun : dans l’Extrême-Nord, le défi de la paix

The Church in Cameroon's Far North region continues to serve communities facing over a decade of violence from the Boko Haram jihadist group. Father Basile Tegamba, from the Diocese of Maroua-Mokolo, describes how the local Church supports people dealing with insecurity and displacement.

Tegamba notes that the spiritual legacy of Baba Simon, one of the first Cameroonian priests, provides hope to the region. Simon was declared Venerable in 2023 and his concept of the whole person continues to influence the local Church. This local mission follows a call for peace, reconciliation, and unity made by Pope Leo XIV during his visit to Cameroon in April.
