Cantiano quattro anni dopo l’alluvione: ricostruire luoghi e comunità

The Diocese of Gubbio held a public meeting on September 14 to mark the fourth anniversary of the September 15, 2022, flood that hit Cantiano. The event, titled “Memoria Futura – Cantiano, radici e semi di comunità,” focused on the physical reconstruction of buildings and the rebuilding of community relationships.

Held on the grounds of the Collegiata di San Giovanni Battista, the meeting concluded a project supported by the Fondo di Beneficenza di Intesa Sanpaolo. The Diocese of Gubbio organized the project alongside the Comune di Cantiano, the Cooperativa sociale Il Sicomoro, and the Associazione culturale La Medusa.

Elisa Polidori, from the Ufficio diocesano Beni culturali, outlined the work being done to repair Church heritage damaged by the flood. The event included remarks from the diocesan vicar general, don Mirko Orsini, Cantiano Mayor Alessandro Piccini, and Paolo Binaco of the Soprintendenza archeologia, belle arti e paesaggio Pesaro e Urbino.
