CARA director says economic justice ranks above life issues for many Catholics
Most Catholic voters prioritize economic concerns such as inflation, the cost of living, and unemployment over life issues ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, according to a survey from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate.
Mark Gray, the director of the research institute at Georgetown University, told EWTN News Nightly on Oct. 19 that the nationwide poll was conducted over the summer. Gray noted that while respondents identified marriage as the most important Church-related issue, economic justice currently ranks higher than life issues. He expects the full survey results to be released later this week.
Gray indicated that Catholic voters will be particularly influential in Florida, Texas, and Midwest states. He also noted that while midterm voter turnout is typically lower than in presidential elections, the impact of young Catholics remains a factor.
