Cardinal Ambongo Urges Catholic Church in DR Congo to Move “from isolated initiatives to collaboration”

Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo urged the Catholic Church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to shift from isolated pastoral projects toward collaboration, communion, and missionary engagement. The Archbishop of Kinshasa made this call during the opening Mass of the third Diocesan Pastoral Week for the Archdiocese of Kinshasa on Monday, September 21.

The gathering, which runs through September 26, focuses on the theme of synodality and communion. The event brings together various leaders from the archdiocese, including auxiliary bishops and parish priests, to assess the current pastoral journey and determine future mission priorities.

During his homily, Cardinal Ambongo stated that the Church must move away from personal interests and individual charisma to use various gifts for the service of the entire community. He noted that the different roles held by apostles, evangelizers, priests, religious, and lay faithful should contribute to unity rather than causing division.
