Cardinal Fernández: Interreligious dialogue does not entail hiding one's Christian identity (Vatican News)

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández said that interreligious dialogue does not require people to hide or downplay their Christian identity. Commenting on a new Vatican document about interreligious dialogue, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith stated that authentic dialogue serves as a form of proclamation.

Cardinal Fernández noted that during dialogue, each person must clearly show their own identity to others and strive to reveal it in its beauty and harmony. He recalled that Pope St. John Paul II emphasized the urgency of combining a strong sense of identity with a great openness to dialogue.
