Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has been elected dean of the College of Cardinals following approval from the Pope on October 8, 2026. Tagle, who serves as the pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization for the Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches, succeeds Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
