Diocese of Carpi launches fundraising for Nepal

The Caritas offices of the Diocese of Carpi and the Diocese of Modena-Nonantola are collecting donations to support people affected by flooding in Nepal. The fundraising effort follows a devastating flood in the Rasuwa district on August 26, which the Diocese describes as one of the worst natural disasters in recent years for the region.

The disaster affected 32,963 people and resulted in 1,369 confirmed deaths, 5,132 missing persons, and 7,474 injuries. Thousands of families were forced to evacuate to reception centers. Logistics and damaged infrastructure continue to make it difficult to reach isolated communities.

Donations will support Caritas Italiana projects, which include mental health and psychosocial assistance for children, adults, and vulnerable groups. Caritas Italiana is also coordinating with Caritas Nepal to help local volunteers and workers managing the emergency response. Supporters can donate via postal account, online, or bank transfer to Banca Popolare Etica using the reference "Alluvione Nepal."
