Senator Cassidy questions FDA mifepristone regulation

Senator Bill Cassidy, R-La., suggested that manufacturers of mifepristone may not be meeting their legal responsibilities to comply with existing requirements.

In a report published August 27, Cassidy, who chairs the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, stated that the FDA should reinstate the requirement for in-person dispensing of the medication. He noted that while the agency should return to this standard, the sponsors of the drug may currently be failing to ensure compliance with other remaining regulations.
