Catéchèse et catéchuménat : un souffle nouveau dans le diocèse

The Diocese of Périgueux is seeing a steady increase in adults seeking baptism and confirmation, according to diocesan coordinator Gaëlle Romieu. In 2026, the diocese accompanied 52 adult baptisms and 46 confirmations. Romieu noted that most of these adults are between 18 and 40 years old, with an even split between men and women.

To address the challenge of supporting new Christians after their initial formation, the diocese will host a celebration for newly baptized members at the cathedral on April 3, 2027. Romieu stated that while the process of preparation is highly supportive, new members sometimes feel unsupported once they enter Christian life. The upcoming event aims to provide a festive way for these individuals to connect with the cathedral and the wider community.
