Catecheten en diaconaal assistenten verdiepen zich in begeleiding van catechumenen

Catechists and diaconal assistants from the Archdiocese of Utrecht met in Enschede on September 19 to discuss how to better support young adults and adults preparing to enter the Catholic Church. Organized by Vicar Patrick Kuipers, who also serves as the bishop's delegate for catechesis, the meeting focused on the catechumenate process.

The gathering addressed the practical needs of welcoming and forming individuals who seek to become Catholic through Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. Participants discussed various stages of this journey, including how to receive newcomers, how to understand their motivations for joining the Church, and how to guide them beyond simple religious instruction toward a deeper encounter with Christ and the Church.

The day began with Mass at St. Joseph Church, where the Gospel reading about the sower and the seed served as a reflection on the uncertain but vital work of those providing religious formation.
