Catedral: Concerto de Juan de la Rubia no Grande Órgão

Spanish organist Juan de la Rubia will perform on the Great Organ at Porto Cathedral on Saturday, September 26, at 21:30. The performance is part of the cathedral's 2026 organ concert series, which continues monthly through November.

The program, themed around chaconas, passacaglias, and ostinatos, features works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including Chaconne und Fugue in d-Moll, BWV 1178 and Passacaglia un Fugue in c-Moll, BWV 582. The recital also includes pieces by Jehan Alain, Max Reger, and Philip Glass.

De la Rubia is the titular organist of the Basílica da Sagrada Família in Barcelona and a professor at the Escola Superior de Música da Catalunha (ESMUC). He has performed at venues such as the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Teatro Mariinsky in São Petersburgo.
