Catholic Archbishop Cautions Nigerians against “ethnic bigots and religious extremists” out to Cause Division

Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja urged Nigerians to resist the tactics of politicians, ethnic bigots, and religious extremists who use differences to create suspicion and hatred. During a homily on September 20 at Holy Cross Gwarampa Parish in Abuja, the Archbishop spoke during a cultural celebration and warned that diversity should be a source of unity rather than a weapon for division.

Kaigama told the congregation that different tribes, languages, and cultures are not enemies. He stated that culture should serve as a bridge to enrich the Church instead of a wall that divides it. He noted that while Christians may belong to different cultures, they remain one in Christ through their shared faith and the Eucharist.
