Catholic Bishops of Canada Gather for the Annual Meeting of the Plenary Assembly

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops will meet in Montreal, Quebec, from September 21 to 25, 2026, for the annual Plenary Assembly. Members will use the week for prayer and discussion to address national mission matters for the Church in Canada.

Bishop Pierre Goudreault, Bishop Bryan Joseph Bayda, C.Ss.R., and Bishop Juan Carlos Londoño will lead a discussion on pastoral initiatives for the 500th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Eoin Connolly and Dr. Patricia Murphy from the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute will provide updates on the organization's activities, and Connolly will present on current Catholic health care questions in Canada.

The president of the CCCB and bishops ordained since the last Plenary will preside over Eucharist celebrations. Bishop Mikaël Mouradian will preside over an Armenian Rite celebration. The bishops will also hold a holy hour with vespers for victims and survivors of sexual abuse.
