Catholic families placed at heart of Vietnam Church’s 2027 mission

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam has designated 2027 as a year for Catholic families to act as missionary communities. This focus is part of a three year pastoral program on evangelization running from 2026 to 2028.

The bishops described the Christian family as a domestic Church that shares in the mission of evangelization within the parish and the wider Church. They urged married couples to remain faithful to their marriage covenant and encouraged parents to pass on the faith to their children through prayer, formation, and example. The bishops also stated that families should witness to the value of marriage and support other households facing challenges in family life.

To support this mission, the 2027 program emphasizes daily prayer, reading Scripture, and reciting the Rosary. The bishops encouraged families to maintain traditions such as praying before and after meals and using moments of prayer to strengthen their evangelizing efforts.
