The Mullivaikkal Memorial Public Structure condemned the removal of a signpost on the Paranthan–Mullaitivu road that directed people to the Tamil genocide memorial site. The Road Development Authority removed and destroyed the sign on September 14.

The group stated that this action interferes with the right of people to remember the genocide and its related historical events. They noted that while various structures, including signs for military camps, remain along the Paranthan–Mullaitivu road, only the memorial signpost was removed.

According to the Mullivaikkal Memorial Public Structure, the removal was based on a court order from the Mullaitivu District Court issued on June 11. The group urged authorities to take steps to protect the historical memories of the Tamil people and ensure their right to commemorate the site.
