Mel Gibson announced that the first part of the film The Resurrection of Christ will release on May 6, 2027, on the day of the Ascension. The second part is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 25, 2028, also during the Ascension period.

Gibson stated that viewers will see a story that no one expected. Although the creators originally planned a shorter interval between the premieres, they moved the dates further apart because of the scale of the project.
