Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I calls for peace at Assisi meeting

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I stated that a Church proclaiming the Resurrection must also proclaim peace. He spoke during a forum organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio in Assisi.

The forum marked the 40th anniversary of a prayer for peace initiated in 1986. During his remarks, the Patriarch said that people should not become accustomed to division as if it were natural.
