The parish of St. John the Baptist in Mscibava welcomed an icon of the Mother of Mercy on September 17. Archbishop Emeritus Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz and parish priest Father Pavel Bezlyapovich met the icon in front of the church before moving it inside for a Mass celebrated for the local community.

The icon is a copy of the Mother of Mercy of Ostrobramska, the patroness of the Diocese of Grodno. Its pilgrimage began on April 18 to mark the 35th anniversary of the diocese and will visit every church and chapel in the diocese before concluding on November 16.

During his homily, Archbishop Kondrusiewicz noted that the devotion to the Mother of Mercy of Ostrobramska is widespread in Belarus. He described divine mercy as the primary characteristic of God and recalled how pilgrims have visited the original shrine in Vilnius for centuries to ask for blessings.
