Catholic short story collection plays on the line between life and death

Eric Cyr’s short story collection, Here It Snows in June and Other Stories, explores the connection between earthly existence and eternal life through themes of mortality. Published by Wiseblood Books, the 156-page collection uses gritty settings to examine the thin line between life and death.

The stories include "A Scout is Reverent," which follows a boy who goes missing in the Minnesota woods during a scouting camp, and "Bell Lap," which depicts a man with dementia questioning the purpose of life as death approaches. Reviewer Rose O’Connor noted that the author uses macabre elements to create discomfort, illustrating the proximity of death in various settings ranging from winter hunts to summer baseball diamonds.
