Cause opens for beatification of Prayer and Life Workshops founder
The Archdiocese of Guadalajara opened the diocesan phase of the cause for beatification of Father Ignacio Larrañaga Orbegozo on Oct. 6. Larrañaga, a Capuchin priest and founder of the Prayer and Life Workshops, died within the archdiocese in 2013.
During a ceremony at the archdiocesan curia, the Vatican Dicastery for the Causes of Saints issued a nihil obstat, meaning there is no objection to the process. Cardinal Archbishop Francisco Robles Ortega issued a decree ordering the opening of the cause, noting the archdiocese has the authority to conduct the investigation because of where Larrañaga passed away.
Auxiliary Bishop Juan Manuel Muñoz Curiel represented Robles Ortega at the event. Muñoz Curiel described Larrañaga as a mystic who used Franciscan mysticism to teach millions of people how to pray and live intimately with God through accessible methods.
