CCEE: Întâlnirea episcopilor catolici orientali din Europa la Máriapócs, 15–19 septembrie 2026

Eastern Catholic bishops from across Europe met at the Marian Sanctuary in Máriapócs from September 15 to 19, 2026. Organized under the patronage of the Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE), the gathering focused on the identity of Eastern Catholic Churches in the diaspora and their witness in the West.

The meeting addressed how these communities maintain their theological, liturgical, canonical, and ecclesiological identities amidst widespread migration. CCEE President Bishop Gintaras Grušas described the meeting as a significant sign for all of Europe.

These annual meetings began in Nyíregyháza in 1997 and serve as a space for dialogue, reflection, and prayer to support Eastern Catholic Churches. The gatherings aim to strengthen the presence of these Churches within the Catholic communion through collegial and synodal participation.
