Christ Cathedral parish to start Perpetual Adoration

Christ Cathedral parish in Garden Grove will begin 24/7 adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this fall. The parish is transforming a small corner of its 34-acre campus by reconfiguring the chapel at the base of the Crean Tower to accommodate the new ministry.

To prepare the space, workers installed air conditioning, a new granite floor featuring a cross, and a marble stand at the far end of the room for a new monstrance. The parish is raising $200,000 to fund these chapel transformations. Bishop Kevin Vann is scheduled to bless the space on Oct. 14.

The 350-square-foot circular chapel was built in 1990 during the campus's time as the Crystal Cathedral. Designed by architect Philip Johnson, the room features a domed ceiling inscribed with Mark 11:17 and 33 cylindrical marble columns representing the years of Jesus' life.
