Church, Customs strengthen pastoral care for Pinoy seafarers

Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno and Bishop Ruperto Santos of Antipolo signed a memorandum of understanding on Sept. 28 to improve pastoral care for Filipino seafarers and migrants. The signing took place at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz in Binondo, Manila.

The agreement allows the Bureau of Customs to facilitate ship visits for Stella Maris-Philippines port chaplains. Bishop Santos, the CBCP promoter for Stella Maris, said the partnership helps the Church accompany Filipinos in their work and ensures they are not alone.
