Clelia, the woman of the Talmud

Clelia Piperno has completed the translation of two-thirds of the Babylonian Talmud through the Italian Translation Project. Piperno, a former professor of constitutional law at the University of Teramo, launched the project fifteen years ago to make the complex ancient text accessible to a wider audience.

The Babylonian Talmud consists of 63 tractates written in ancient Hebrew and Aramaic. It contains rabbinical interpretations on subjects including theology, science, philosophy, agriculture, and medicine. To translate the work, Piperno utilized Traduco, a software program designed to learn through application.
