Parishioners at Nuestra Señora del Sagrario in the Carabanchel neighborhood of Madrid will begin a series of activities for the Week of the Word starting this Sunday. The program includes a Mass where people will bring their own Bibles to be blessed. The parish has asked attendees to bring extra copies to give to those who do not own one.

Juan Cruz Villalón, the administrator priest of the parish, said the summer months were used to work on these activities with the pastoral council. The parish plans to conclude the week on September 26 with a parish assembly open to the entire community rather than just pastoral leaders.

These activities follow a letter from Cardinal Cobo, the Archbishop of Madrid, inviting parishes to participate in the Week of the Word from September 20 to 26. The Archbishop encouraged communities to plan together to better serve their mission and to let the message of Jesus resonate within their local areas.
