Comissão da União Europeia adota "EU Kids Act" e proíbe redes sociais a menores de 13 anos

The European Commission has adopted the "EU Kids Act," a proposal that would ban children under 13 from using social media.

The proposal includes a total ban for children under 13 and introduces restrictions for those between the ages of 13 and 15. These rules would affect large social media platforms, online gaming sectors, and artificial intelligence chatbots. Ursula von der Leyen stated that the measure intends to return control of the situation to parents.

The text is currently in the initial stages of the legislative process. It must pass through several stages before it becomes mandatory across the European Union.
