The Diocese of Rossano–Cariati released a commentary on today's Gospel based on Lc 4, 16-30.

The commentary describes Jesus returning to Galilee and seeking to honor his home town by offering them the privilege of being the first to receive the announcement of salvation. It notes that upon entering the synagogue, Jesus was given a passage to read.
