Comunicado oficial ante a profanación do sagrario da igrexa de Guitiriz

Bishop Fernando García Cadiñanos will preside over a reparation Mass on Tuesday, September 29, following the theft and desecration of the tabernacle at the Sacred Heart of Mary parish church in Guitiriz. The Mass is scheduled for 20:00 at the church.

Unknown individuals entered the church at midday last Saturday, removed the tabernacle from its place, forced it open, and took the ciborium. While the silver ciborium was stolen, the consecrated hosts were scattered in the town square.

The Diocese of Mondoñedo-Ferrol described the incident as a very serious act and a direct affront to the Eucharist. Authorities have received a report regarding the event and have opened an investigation to identify those responsible. Bishop García Cadiñanos invited the local Christian community and anyone wishing to do so to join in prayer and participate in the upcoming acts of reparation.
