Conférence des évêques catholiques du Canada holds annual meeting

Bishops from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops are meeting in Montreal from September 21 to 25, 2026, for their annual plenary assembly. The gathering involves prayer, dialogue, and decision-making to address national Church mission matters.

The assembly includes a discussion on pastoral initiatives for the 500th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Bishop Pierre Goudreault will lead this discussion alongside Bishop Bryan Joseph Bayda and Bishop Juan Carlos Londoño.

Daily celebrations of the Eucharist will be presided over by the president of the conference and bishops ordained since the last assembly. The schedule also includes an Armenian Rite Eucharist led by Bishop Mikaël Mouradian. Additionally, Eoin Connolly and Patricia Murphy will present updates on the activities of the Canadian Institute of Catholic Bioethics.
