Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is launching an autumn 2026 campaign to encourage Canadians to advocate for increased international solidarity and government funding. The campaign, themed "Is Canada on the path to justice?", seeks to mobilize the faithful to address issues regarding public development aid and support vulnerable populations in the South.

The Catholic organization notes that many wealthy nations, including Canada, are reducing international aid. Development and Peace reports that Canada's announced cuts to public development aid are expected to total 2.7 billion dollars over four years. These reductions occur as populations in many southern countries face rising conflicts, climate change effects, and resource exploitation.

The campaign asks Canadians to urge the federal government to increase international aid financing. Development and Peace states that international solidarity involves more than financial requests, requiring public awareness, citizen mobilization, and commitment to peace and human dignity.
