Consiglio Permanente CEI: dal 21 al 23 settembre a Roma la sessione autunnale

The Permanent Council of the Italian Episcopal Conference will meet in Rome from September 21 to 23 at the CEI headquarters. Cardinal President Matteo Zuppi will open the session on Monday at 16:00.

Bishops will discuss preparations for a meeting between the Italian clergy and Pope Leo XIV on December 12, as well as a prayer vigil on the afternoon of December 11. These events mark the first anniversary of the apostolic letter Una fedeltà che genera futuro, published for the 60th anniversary of the conciliar decrees Optatam totius and Presbyterorum Ordinis.

The Council will elect members to the Episcopal Commissions and the Council for Affari Giuridici. Discussions will include the adequacy of structures according to the guidelines Radicati e costruiti in Cristo and the synodal summary document Lievito di pace e di speranza. The Council will also present the program for the 83rd General Assembly in Assisi from November 23 to 26 and discuss the theme and program for the XXVIII National Eucharistic Congress in Orvieto, scheduled for September 23 to 26, 2027.
