Construir la paz desde el encuentro: Mensaje de la Iglesia Católica en Bolivia

Catholic religious leaders, legislative authorities, and civil society members met at an interreligious gathering to reaffirm commitments to social harmony, justice, and human rights in Bolivia. The event coincided with the International Day of Peace.

Bishop Mario Luis Durán Berríos, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of La Paz and head of the interreligious dialogue section for the Bolivian Episcopal Conference, spoke about the need to stop violence through spirituality and dialogue. He described violence as an action that harms or destroys people, animals, or the environment.

Bishop Durán noted that physical, psychological, and sexual violence disproportionately affects vulnerable groups, including women, children, adolescents, and people with disabilities. He stated that such violence violates human rights and breaks down peaceful coexistence.
