Many Western dioceses reported an increase in adult conversions to Catholicism this past Easter, reaching levels not seen since before the pandemic or the early 2010s.

Eve Tushnet of Commonweal notes that while these numbers show a rebound, they do not constitute a revival. The increase in adult converts has not offset the decline in faith and practice among those born into the Church. Additionally, most locations reporting these increases still show lower conversion numbers than in previous years. Tushnet also observes a social narrative of skepticism toward new converts, often characterized by a perceived tendency for converts to focus on intense or obscure theological details compared to lifelong Catholics.
